Hi writers! Time for another writing prompt. In case you missed it, Kellyann and Leah had really creative offerings for last week’s prompt about the moon.
Just quickly, before we get to the prompt, I wanted to share that I’ve decided not to do a fall writing workshop this year. I’ve run the numbers (i.e. just done a bunch of guessing) and with the algorithm in the state it is I just don't think we could get enough registrants for the amount of work I put into running it. I decided to put that energy instead into my own fall project of self-publishing the poetry book I've been working on for years (If you’d like to get updates about that you can follow my personal Substack).
BUT the weekly prompts and space to share will continue here, and hopefully pick up momentum as the school year begins. I hope to build up the numbers of this group so that we can be our own mighty algorithm, and potentially aim for a mid-to-late-winter workshop. If you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to share this with them!
Okay, the prompt for this week is artificial intelligence. As always, feel free to interpret it as loosely as you want: Write about the dangers of AI, or the potential, or a time in your life when Siri’s voice in the night helped you feel at least slightly less alone. Write a conversation in which an android lover says everything you want to hear but it is not enough. Or write about your own mind, your own intelligence, and how it feels real or not real, how it seems to function differently than others’, how you’ve had to supplement its functioning with apps and lists and notes and scripts.
We’ll gather back here on Tuesday, since Monday is Labor Day, to share what we’ve written. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Love,
Jessica
