Hello, writers! I hope you all had a good week. I came home from work today, went into the backyard, and doused my head with the garden hose. It felt so good. I guess summer has really arrived here in the Northern hemisphere!
I’m really excited, for two reasons: There are now 225 of us here, which is almost halfway to my goal of 500. And today I started talking to some writer friends about doing guest posts here! I’m hoping to have more and more content as subscriptions (and particularly paid subscriptions) increase, and I thought a great way to start would be to have guest writers occasionally write the weekly prompt for us! So stay tuned for some fun guests.
This week, though, it’s still just me. :) As a reminder, we are switching up the schedule for a bit, so Friday posts will be writing prompts, and Monday posts will be where we share what we’ve written. There were some really great pieces this past Monday by some folks who haven’t shared here before! If you didn’t get the chance, go check them out and leave a comment. (Paid or comped subscribers only.)
For this week’s prompt, I’d like you to write about the horizon. It could be a description of an amazing sunrise or sunset, or a poem about the sky and earth (or the sky and sea) meeting, or a reflection on the horizon as a metaphor of our limited ability to see the future, or the full picture. Or maybe you want to write a short story about a horizon that didn’t behave properly, like when Reepicheep swam over the edge of it in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. As always, be as creative as you like with the prompt! Take it in whatever direction you, or the story, wants to go.
See you on Monday to share what we’ve written!
I have been working on this (in my brain and on paper) all week and have nothing worth sharing. But I appreciate the impetus to write!
